Benjamin Schmidt
Benjamin Schmidt gained initial experience as a lighting technician at Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel while still at engineering college. After graduating as an industrial engineer, there followed training as a lighting designer at August Everding Bayerische Theaterakademie in Prinzregententheater. After that he first worked as a freelance lighting designer before taking on a position as lighting manager and lighting designer at Deutsches Nationalhteater in Weimar where he was responsible for his first dance theatre pieces, besides drama and opera.
Since 2001 Benjamin Schmidt has been employed at Theaterakademie in Prinzregententheater as section manager and lighting designer. In addition, independent musical and opera and drama productions were created. Among others he collaborated with directors like Anna Viebrock, Gil Mehmert, Jörg Hube and Jochen Schölch. He additionally works as a guest lecturer at Musikhochschule und Kunstakademie München as well as with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
