Arthur Espiritu
The American opera singer with his roots in the Philippines graduated in singing from the University of New Orleans, USA. He gained his first opera experiences at the opera houses in Santa Fe, St. Louis, Pittsburgh and Memphis, interpreting roles such as Tybalt in Gounod's »Romeo et Juliet«.
After further engagements in Washington and New York City, Arthur Espiritu also increasingly appeared as a guest artist on European stages. In recent years, for example, he has performed in Paris, Vienna, Milan, St. Gallen, Baden-Baden, Berlin, Leipzig and Tel Aviv. In the 2012/2013 season, he sang roles such as Almaviva (»Il barbiere di Siviglia«) in Manila, Ernesto (»Don Pasquale«) at the Klosterneuburg Festival/Vienna, Don Ramiro (»La Cenerentola«) in Pittsburgh and Cassio (»Otello«) in Modena and Piacenza. In the 2013/2014 season, he appeared in »Don Pasquale« (Leipzig), »La favorita« (St. Gallen), »Il barbiere di Siviglia« (Wiesbaden), »Così fan tutte« (Magdeburg and Basel) and »La bohème« (Magdeburg).
In 2009, Arthur Espiritu was presented with the »George London Award« for his singing achievements. In addition, he also gained second place in the »Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions«.
