Antony Rizzi

Antony Rizzi was born in West Newton (USA) and studied at the Boston Ballet School, before becoming a member of the Ballett Frankfurt in 1985. He worked as assistant to William Forsythe and danced for 19 years in his company, playing many different leading roles in such works as »Self Meant to Govern«, »Second Detail«, »Enemy in the Figure« and »Kammer/Kammer«.

He has also worked regularly for 20 years with the Belgian choreographer Jan Fabre, on works including the 24-hour performance »Mount Olympus«; Fabre also developed the solo piece »DRUGS KEPT ME ALIVE« for him.

In past years, Antony Rizzi has created choreographies for many different companies around the globe, including the Bayerisches Staatsballett, the Pennsylvania Ballet, the Scapino Ballet Rotterdam and the London Royal Ballet.

For his own company, »Tony Rizzi and the Bad Habits«, he has developed countless productions incorporating the visual arts in collaboration with the Künstlerhaus Mousonturm.

As a freelance ballet and improvisation trainer, he also works with companies such as the ensemble of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, the Impulstanz Festival, the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, Munich, and the Boston Ballet.
