Anna Thorén

Born in Sweden, Anna Thorén attended the School of Music in Norrköping in southern Sweden and then the Ballet Academy in Göteborg, where she also trained in the areas of Musical and Music Theatre. When she was just 16 years old, she appeared on stage in »The Sound of Music« and »Show Boat«. She played Teresita in »West Side Story«, Sue in »The Life« and Sheila in »Hair«. She also appeared as Magenta and the Usherette in »The Rocky Horror Show« and as Bridget in »A Slice of Saturday Night«. In the musical »Cabaret« she appeared as a Kit-Kat Girl and as Sally Bowles and then toured Europe with this musical.

In Stuttgart, she appeared on stage as Queen Anne in »3 Musketiere« and as Countess Esterházy in »Elisabeth« and in Hamburg she was among the premiere cast in the role of Magda in »Tanz der Vampire«. She played Marguerite St. Just in »The Scarlet Pimpernel« in Ettlingen, and was Lucy in »Jekyll & Hyde« in Bremerhaven City Theatre. In the new production of »Tanz der Vampire« in Vienna, she once again played the role of Magda and can also be heard on the live CD recording. In Oberhausen she alternated in the role of Elphaba in »Wicked« and appeared in Tecklenburg in the title role in »Marie Antoinette« and as Mercédes in »Der Graf von Monte Christo«. At Halle Opera, she played Elizabeth Benning in the first German-language performance of Mel Brooks' »Young Frankenstein« and Anita in »West Side Story« and toured Germany as Milady de Winter in »3 Musketiere«.
