Ann-Katrin Naidu
Ann-Katrin Naidu received her education at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in her native city Stuttgart and at the University of Tübingen. While still studying she sang at the Württemberg State Opera and was later recruited to sing at opera houses in Saarbrücken and Mannheim where she could be heard in the roles of Charlotte (»Werther«), Sextus (»La Clemenza di Tito«) and in the title role of (»Mignon«). She debuted at Dresden State Opera as Clairon (»Capriccio«) and was recruited to National Theatre Munich by Zubin Mehta for Wagner and Verdi roles.
Since 1996, Ann-Katrin Naidu has been a member of the Gärtnerplatz Ensemble where she has played roles, including the title roles in »Carmen«, »Boccaccio« and »Johanna von Orléans«, as muse/Niklas (»The Tales of Hoffmann«), Cherubino (»Le nozze di Figaro«), Hansel (»Hänsel und Gretel«), composer (»Ariadne auf Naxos«), Prince Orlofsky (»Die Fledermaus«), Fata Morgana (»Die Liebe zu den drei Orangen«) and Nancy (»Martha«). Since 2002 she had additionally made guest appearances at Bayerische Staatsoper where she collaborated in »Der Ring des Nibelungen«, »Falstaff« and »La Traviata«.
Ann-Katrin Naidu has made her presence felt at many important music festivals with an extensive concert repertory ranging from the great oratories of Bach and Giuseppe Verdi's Requiem and the symphonies of Gustav Mahler to contemporary works. She has toured Japan, Israel and the US, appeared as a soloist in numerous premieres and sang with the most important German orchestras. She has worked with conductors like Zubin Mehta, Lorin Maazel, Kent Nagano and Christian Thielemann.
In December 2019 Ann-Katrin Naidu was awarded the title Bayerische Kammersängerin (Bavarian Chamber Singer) by Bernd Sibler, Bavarian State Minister for Science and Art.
