Anastasia Bain

Born in New York, Anastasia Bain is already able to look back on a wide-ranging theatrical career over many years as an actress, singer, dancer and performer in musicals. She made her début at the age of 16 in Agnes DeMille's »Conversations About The Dance« at the City Center in New York, graduated from the Juilliard School as a Bachelor of Fine Arts and continued her training at the Nat Horne School of Musical Theatre before coming to Europe with the touring production of »Carmen Jones«. Under the direction of Götz Friedrich, she performed as a solo dancer in his production of »Porgy and Bess« at the Theater des Westens in Berlin. In Wynton Marsalisʼ composition »All Rise«, she sang the solo mezzosoprano part, conducted by Claudio Abbado in the Berliner Philharmonie.

In Hamburg, Anastasia Bain was a member of the original cast playing the role of the Hyena Shenzi in the German production of Disney's »Der König der Löwen« and the part of Rafiki in the French production of »The Legend of the Lion King«. The Störtebeker Festival on Rügen and the Friedrichstadtpalast in Berlin are also among the many venues in which she has performed. Alongside further engagements, she has also performed as the Teacher and Killer Queen in »We Will Rock You«, Lorrell in »Dreamgirls«, Ms. Sherman in »Fame« and Aretha in »Blues Brothers«. She has also appeared in »Sister Act« at Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, in »Show Boat« at the Bad Hersfeld Festival and the Landestheater Linz, where she also played the Acid Queen in »Tommy«, and Roxane in »Sekretärinnen« at the Hamburger Kammerspiele.

She made her début at the Gärtnerplatztheater in 2014 as the Soulgirl in the concert version of »Jesus Christ Superstar«.
