Alessio Attanasio

Alessio Attanasio, who was born in Mola di Bari, Italy, trained in dance and drama at the Paolo Grassi School in Milan from 2004 to 2007. His teachers included Lucinda Childs, Emio Greco, Robert Wilson and Luciana Melis. He graduated with distinction in 2007.

He started work with the company of the Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome directed by Pina Bausch in 2008, and worked here for a year with the choreographers Jacopo Godani, Robyn Orlin, Wayne McGregor and Ismael Ivo. After this, he moved to the Spanish company LaMov Ballet Contemporaneo directed by Victor Jimenez. In 2009, he started taking part in international galas and festivals. He danced in works such as Johannes Wieland's »Scheherazade« at Staatstheater Kassel and in Malou Airaudo's »Der verlorene Drache« and »Schwarze Katze« at Schauspielhaus Bochum and in the Kaiser Antonino Dance Ensemble.

He has presented his own choreographies at the TanzLabor of Schauspielhaus Bochum and at the Biennale Danza in Venice. He was a member of the ballet of Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz from 2012 till 2019.
